PCRG - 3k TT

I wasn't expecting anything too flash at yesterday's TT. I thought Sunday's 28k might still be in the legs and I didn't want to go totally flat strap and risk injury so close to Canberra. At our post run brekky on Saturday Andrew K and I made a bit of a pact to go for 12:15, but I thought that might be a big ask and settled on a goal of sub 12:30.

I hit the halfway mark in 6:10 and was lagging behind the usual suspects including Andrew, they were just out of reach. Approaching the 500m mark the legs were really starting to feel the effects of Sunday. But I was nearing Clairie's marshaling post and knowing she'd be there cheering really upped my motivation and drive.

I started to bridge the gap and eventually caught Andrew. There was a bit of the old cat and mouse going on all the way to the finish, it was great as we really pushed eachother home fast. The last hundred metres were a real gut buster.

We both crossed the line in 12:16. His previous best was 12:50 so what a fantastic result for him. And I was rapt, especially with that nice little negative split.

Might have to start making more pacts :-)

Just a couple of seconds from the line, sucking in the big ones

Clairie and I on the warmdown

A great run Tesso is where we exceed our own expectations - so well done on a great run!

I missed witnessing the finish because I was still out on the course but judging by the photos it was a gut busting effort.

Thanks for running with me on the cooldown. See you in the morning for some running and PANCAKES....sorry the stomach was talking really loud again.

Your marathon pace in Canberra, at least for the frist 3kms, should be relatively comfortable after running such a good TT.

Get that taper right and you'll be surprising even your most confident fans.

That was a fantastic effort by Andrew to lower his 3KTT by that much.

Great run there Tess!

From what I could see 70 meters back, you were flying :-).

Excellent Tesso! I'm thinking sub-12 will be worth a carton :)

The blurred background makes you look really fast. Almost as fast as Clairie, who, by the way, seems to have lost a little ab definition recently.

A nice easy 3k TT. Looks like you are going to rip at Canberra if you keep this form going.

Nice run on Sunday and getting faster on each lap that is super pacing control. Keep healthy until Canberra. How the humidity in Brissy - have a look at the cooooool temps in Canberra. Should be pleasant for running once the initial shock of being uncovered and waiting for the start is over.

You were really flying there Tesso.
All you have to do now is run the whole 3K like you did the last 100M.

Agree with the others Tess. Your speed really shows in that photo.

Good luck for Canberra. I will probably be wrestling with my pre-race dreams in a Boston hotel when you run Canberra but it goes without saying that I will be thinking of you and the others. you seem to be in good shape as usual.

Have a safe trip to Canberra and have a great race.
