Gold Coast Marathon 2007

Just a quick post as I'm about to head off for a couple of days R & R. I might write a longer one when I return.

'A' goal was 3:45, 'B' goal was 3:55, secret goal 3:38, super secret goal was 3:36.

In short, I had the perfect run. Set out to run 5:05 to 5:10 pace the whole way, and lo and behold I managed it. A few kms were a little faster, and a couple a few seconds slower but basically I was able to hold it together for the whole 42.195k.

Finish time - 3:34.14.

No wall, no cramping, no heavy legs, no flat spots, no nothing :-) I have never ever felt so good in a marathon.

More later. Gotta go sit in a spa, eat chocolate and drink champagne.

I've been sweating on this post, (and still waiting for one from a certain Song, R.)

So, congratu-bloody-lations!!! That's a great result for how you came into the race. The one unknown factor balanced against your lack of long, long runs was just overall running history and sheer toughness. Great stuff. Enjoy your chocolate & champagne, but be careful of that spa. I hear they can be a knockout.

I knew you could do that sort of time just didn't want to put pressure on you ;)

After the R and R you should seriously think about an attempt at bettering your Marathon PB. You're coming tantalisingly close.

Congratulations Tesso, I'm so happy for you.

Congratulations once again Tess. The repeated hugs in recovery area said it all. You're a mlike a metrinome, a machine, how do you keep that pace so consistent for so long? it was a pleasure to be there with you.

I know. You've been foxing us! There wasn't anything wrong with your hammies, and every time you were pretending to be home resting them, you were really out doing sekrit training...

3:34. Wow. Can I trail along after you one time?? Enormous congrats :-) :-)

p.s. enjoy the chocolate; not so sure about the champagne

Was 3:34 your super duper secret goal? You were looking pretty good at the surf club (even after those CR gut punches I passed on from Steve, Scott and Geoff).

Enjoy the R & R.

'Bye Connie. See you next year!

Sensational Tesso! You are incredible. I hope you enjoyed the spa, chocolate & champagne because you deserved it

Was lovely to catch up with you - albeit briefly - and I'm so sorry for my hasty & somewhat rude departure from dinner.

Marvellous run, Tess. Rather than waste that champagne by drinking it, you should be bottling this run in it. You will be replaying this run in your mind for years to come. And you should too.

It's a great platform to push the envelope even further. What a star you are in every way.
