PCRG - 3k TT

My 3k TTs have become like a game of snakes and ladders. After landing on four ladders lately today I hit a snake. A big one.

Here's a rundown from the past two years of TT's. I've left a few off the list where I was pacing others.

12:42 - today

I didn't have it in me this morning. A little physically but really it was just lack of ticker. Bad.

On a brighter note it was fantastic to see Mat go flying past me in the final stretch to grab himself not just a PB but also the coveted bling for doing four consecutive faster times. Go Mat!!!!

Oh Tesso....don't be talking yourself into that ticker thing. You got plenty of that - you and everyone else knows it. bloody hot/humid day; you're just coming back from a lay off due to injury; maybe you didn't sleep well..blah blah. Is that the last 3k TT you'll ever do? Nup, there be lots more. Thats the reason Pat does 'em isn't it? keep you focussed on improving.

It was good to catch up with you on the weekend, even though it was very brief. Looking forward to cheering you on in Canberra.

Thats it Tesso - listen to Peterhorse. Did you really give yourself the opportunity to run well today - ie were you well rested (ha!), did you drink plenty? did you fuel up? did you know how bloody hot it was out there this morning?

I died in the last 500m. The only reason I was anywhere near where I ran was because I held on to Toastie for dear life and just kept behind him. If he sped up so did I , when he eased up so did I.

I work really well just tagging onto someone and keeping with them. If I have to think for myself and look at my pace I just run all over the place.

So chin up sister because we haven't seen anything from you yet.

Do you realise that you have been off running for the past several weeks - first a complete rest and then only ever other day. The speed is there Tesso, just wait till March (Feb is no doubt going to be a stinking month of humid heat) and see what you pull out of the training closet then!!!!!

Lets just keep increasing the miles and not focus on how fast we are running and where we are at compared to last year (that just depresses me too!) and get the long runs happening. I know then that you will see some huge benefits as you really suit the long running.

I love you and there is nothing BAD about your ticker.

Tess, don't beat yourself up. I get what your saying about the ticker. You meant that you weren't mentally psyched up for it today. That's OK. It's hard to have your head in gear every time.

As you hint with the 'physically' reference, you've just had a big weekend too.

If we knocked some points of the horrible 93% humidity this morning, you would have done much better without any extra effort at all!

So chin up, keep your eye's on the brass ring ... Canberra. Bring it on!

Like Clairie says, go put some big miles under your belt. That's were your focus will be.

Just one of those days Tess. Perhaps too many 'black' ones this week. You'll bounce back with a big ladder :)

Either that, or you could go for the 'four consecutive slower times' bling ;) Sorry.

Did I miss something? If not, you did a good 30k on Sunday, then backed up with a 3k TT on Tuesday. I couldn't WALK 3k two days after a 30km run, let alone run it in 4:15's! Come to think of it, I'm yet to run 30km....

Don't worry Tesso, I'm sure that looking at the "ladder" post ITB you're rapidly heading for another sub 12.

I think I might have to get into these 3km TT's as a bench mark - they get the self competition juices going!

There is a lag between training sessions and fitness response. It is as simple as that. Today reflects your injury-tainted training of a couple of weeks ago. Your recent week of good running, and the good weeks to follow, will show up next time around. Mark my words.

Yes Tesso

A bit of what everyone else said and I know after running the same Ks as you on Sunday that I couldn't of done a good TT today.

I did hills this morning and felt as flat as I ever have doing then.
Like SL said there is a lag.

Anyway if you have no ticker that means we all have no ticker and I won't have you talking about these good people like that! ;)

Todays result proves what wonderful accomplishments you have achieved previously.

I believe there is always another summit to climb and new challenges to meet, rather that replicate or revisit what you have already done.

Just stay with it and get below 12 on the next TT and stay with that until Canberra. Good to see you on Saturday although briefly.

As you can see Tess, all your running buddies know that you dont have a lack of ticker.

Just a tough day at the office, for reasons only the running gods know. Everybody has a day they would rather forget, hell I have them on a weekly basis :-)

See ya Sunday, and you better have your chin up ;-)
