Coupla Days

I was expecting a good report from the physio yesterday as I knew the SIL was feeling way better. After putting me through a few little tests he gave me the go ahead to run in a couple of days time. Then he said "Friday". Hmmm, I thought a couple of days time would be Thursday? But I wasn't going to argue ... much ;-)

Anyway, we agreed on Friday morning.

After this is over and done with I'm going to see Adam (physio) regularly, maybe every six weeks, for preventative maintenance. Thanks for the suggestion Matty.

Headed to the gym afterwards and was thinking about doing Haydon's spin class as I knew so many of the girls in there (Clairie, Susan, Lara, Madonna). But my glutes really were way too sore, even moreso after the pummelling I got at the physio. So just did some weights and stretching while they all suffered.

I'm going to incorporate walking into my running program, might throw in a 10k walk on my rest day. If its working my glutes that much that they hurt it must be doing me a lot of good.

"Anyway, we agreed on Friday morning".

I didn't know that one could negotiate with physios. I'll have to remember that one.....

If walking is working you that hard, maybe I should walk on my off days as well! How hard do you walk? But, then, cycling does work the quads so well.....

Nice Tesso, great news. Good to see you won your arguement ;-)

I do some walks during the week with Cass I'm unsure if it actually helps however in saying that it isn't 10k at a time either. It does feel good afterwards though, certainly not as harsh on the pegs.

"If its working my glutes that much that they hurt it must be doing me a lot of good" - you worry me sometimes!!!!!!!!!

Walking is good :) The only problems... it takes longer than running and is not as much fun.

Of course, if you're doing a 12 hour race, it doesn't take longer than running!

Now that's a good "update", so to speak.

Interesting too about how much soreness that walking gave you. I must do it more as well.

I do know that if I walk home from my usual run around the pond instead of drive, its a 30 min walk, I have less DOMS the following days. So must do some good.

I've not been around much lately due to other things. Sorry to hear about your injury woes but looks like you're on the mend.

For an endurance runner its all about time on your feet. So if you spend 10hrs a week running and another 2 hours a week walking...thats likely to cause less injury and more fitness than 12hrs of running.

It is something we should all do, but I just never find the time to do something OTHER than running. I am struggling with all my stretching and rolling and pulling that I am MEANT to be doing.

Best of luck to you. So are you now a fulltime athlete and part time employee?? hee hee

Hiya Tesso!

I have been under the radar and too busy to blog of late so this is a catch up and it's dissapointing to see you are injured!

But when it comes to rehab then you are becoming a master,we would all prefer that you were a master of uninjury though!

Get well soon

10k walk on your day off! So when do you actually have.....a day off?
5 minutes of squats will do me for training glutes!
