The Latest ... Not The Greatest

Adam (physio) suggested Monday evening that I try to do some swimming, kickboarding and water running. I had to work 12 hour days Tuesday and Wednesday and any spare time before and after that was spent stretching etc, so yesterday was the first chance I had to hit the water. Got to the Centenary pool at around 11am, which turned out to be a good time as it was quite empty ... of people, not water :-)

Adam had said just to take the water running easy and so just did about 15 minutes of that before ditching the floatation belt. I'd forgotten how boring I find swimming. It made me wonder how others keep their minds occupied, especially Miners who is about to swim 3.8kms. Must work out how to get in 'the zone'.

Its the first time I've swum laps in a couple of years, still I wasn't expecting pain. But after about 250 meters my shoulder started hurting and by 300 meters I had to call it quits. I'm falling apart :-(

At my Monday physio appointment there was a glimmer of hope that I'd be able to do an easy jog Saturday. But I knew yesterday the way my ITB and knee were feeling that there was no chance of that and I didn't need Adam to confirm that at yesterday afternoon's session (although he did).

Ho hum.

Sorry to hear it's not going as quick as you'd hoped. Mine neither. Hope our long-distance injury relationship doesn't last too long! ;(

Im with you Tesso, I have just ditched the triathlon series that I used to do for work. Swimming is just not for me, I work hard at it and get nowhere. After all that swimming I did after my surgery I hopped in the pool a couple of weeks ago and almost drowned after a few laps. Miners can have it.

Hopefully after a few days of more rest and stretching you will feel an improvement and your nice Physio will allow you to get back to it. Fingers Crossed.

Sorry to hear it's being a slow old process! Let's hope you see some improvement next week and can get out for a few light runs at least.

I'm with you on the swimming.. it sucks! I tried to improve mine last year but didn't really get very far, or very fast.

ITB really sucks doesn't it? Keep smiling and stretching and I'm sure you'll be back in no time!

Been some time since I made a comment, I read and then can't always think of something to say. Sorry to hear you have an injury but more than happy that it won't be stopping you. Hang in there, my best thoughts are for a quick and full recovery.

Hey Tess! I have sent you an email my dear :-) It will improve, you just have to let the inflamation settle. While your doing that stretch and do whatever the physio has set you. Lots of good vibes coming your way!!! Can you feel them?

Hang in there buddy - it may not happen overnight but it will happen ;-)

On the bright side - it should give you plenty of time to research the PMC route :-)

Maybe this could help with the swimming . http://www.waterproofmusic.com/swimp3.html

I have found that the first swimming session for a long time is hard but it is amazing how quickly you improve. Within a couple of weeks you can be doing a decent distance no problem.

Chin up.

Just tapering more than you planned Tesso. But then again you probably didn't plan on tapering.

We'll be hanging on your blog here waiting for good news. All the best Tesso.

Was so good to see you this morning. Even if you weren't running. I miss you like crazy when I am out running because we had gotten into such a good rythem and now I have to slow down or speed up for other people if I want to run with them.

So.... ho hum from me too!!!

PS. How did the big swim go this arvo? Don't forget that the chlorine in the pools may make you very tired and blurry eyed. So eye drops and big sleep tonight!

Hang in there Tess - its really frustrating I know, but it will come better. Besides you've done the hard work so you're tapering now!

I know what you mean about swimming. I haven't got in a pool since early January and now I'm putting it off until after the marathon - its going to be soooo hard.

Swimming is all fun, I'm as slow as anything at it, but I don't think about time. Don't time it and you'll be happier.

It got me through my ITB, did yoga too, but it took me forever to get through it. My heart is with you, go easy Tess, try to be patient...
