Making The Most Of It

Being limited to 15k for my long runs I decided on Saturday to make it worthwhile - a 2.5k warmup, 2 x BRRC 5k loops fastish, a 2.5k warmdown. Joseph was the only one of the usual Saturday gang I could convince to join in, the rest headed off to the green bridge and beyond.

We ran to the spot at West End where Pat gets us to start our TT and other sessions and from there ran the 5k loop 'in reverse', the first one averaging 4:47 pace. After a couple of minutes rest we headed off on the second one. About the 2k mark Jonesy called out from the river (he was rowing) and we had a race for about 500m ... I beat him :-) This forced me to pick up the pace and I kept the momentum going until the end. Second lap average was 4:37s.

Might have to try this sort of thing more often.

Gee if you take on a speed boat next time you'll be busting PB's. :)

Nice pace - but to make it fair you should have run backwards so you were both facing the same way ;-)

Nice. After that, looks like the 1500 will be your best event at Warwick :)

The goal for SMH is beat the PB of 84:40 which was run on a flat course, so might be a bit tough. But that was December and I'm now a bit faster. So I'll have a go anyway.

Somehow I got the image of the scene out of "an officer and a Gentleman" when his friends came by on a boat while he was on shore with the drill sargent.

No brown eyes I hope.
