The Bizarro Aki

Another day shift today (7am start) so drove to work early and ran back to join Clairie and the Regatta Runners for their 6am start and ran back into the city with them. There had been some heavy rain in the early hours of the morn and even though the sky was overcast and grey it was warm and very humid (24 degrees and 90% humidity).

There weren't as many runners or cyclists as you'd normally see at this hour, maybe the hint of rain put them off. Even the number of Regatta Runners was well down. I only spotted a couple of the usual suspects out there including the Aki lookalike. She always runs in the early morning and over the years I've never ever seen her dressed in anything but long tights and long sleeves, no matter how hot or cold it is, but today she was in a sleeveless top and shorts.

Clairie and I both declared we'd take this one slow and seemed to be doing so. Still, the front pack weren't that far in front of us, so either they were cruising as well or our slow is getting faster. I tried to veer off at the Vic Bridge to head up to work but my ever faithful running buddy turned herself into a roadblock and forced me to run a whole 200 meters extra to the next exit.

Running back past the casino the cold air blasting out the big open front doors was absolutely beautiful. I should've stopped there and then and stretched (or at least pretended to) and then walked the couple of blocks to work. Must remember to do this next time.

The casino must have cleaned up its act. I used to walk past it on my way to work every day and all I got blasted with was a wave of stale beer and cigarette smoke.

Ha Ha Ha I can just see you standing there trying to stretch in front of the Casino...with all the night lifers leaving and wondering what drugs you are on. hee hee

Thanks for the run this morn. Man I was totally drenched when I stopped and the sweat just kept coming. Gross huh!

Still much better than having to wear gloves and breath through hats to warm your nose :)

Start work at 7 am, start run at 6 am. Are you really ready for a 7 am start at work. I'm guessing that it's very tight.

My run started at work in the city at 5.35am. From there I ran to the Regatta where the regulars were kicking off at 6am. They run into the city and back so did the inward journey with them and got back to work around 6.30am so not so tight really :-)

Just caught up on your last week or so of posts...you are running great and really off to a fantastic start to the year. Not to mention enjying yourself in the process. Great job! All that heat and humidity...ahh, it take me back a few months. It is just too bloody cold here at the moment.

You are so motivating! Nice run! It is cold here but I'm not complaining. I do not like running in the heat! (Plus, we've had a fairly mild winter so far with the exception of a few snowstorms so I can't complain!)
